On January 7, the 2023 Yellow River National Strategic New Year Forum was held on the Minglun Campus of Henan University. The Forum was held with the theme of "Yellow River Civilization and Chinese-style Modernization".

The Forum was composed of the opening ceremony and the keynote reports. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhanwei Huan, dean of the Institute for Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of Henan University. At the ceremony, speeches were given by Junjian Sun, vice president of Henan University, and Changhong Miao, director of the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development. Later, Hongbo Zhao, director of the Territorial Planning and Design Institute, released Report on the High-quality Development Index of the Yellow River Basin; Chunying Liu, director of the Kaifeng Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archeology, showed Archaeological Central Plains · Famous Cities.

At the Forum, 6 experts made reports, including Zhenzhong Wang, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a distinguished researcher at the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development of Henan University, Jigen Tang, chair professor of Southern University of Science and Technology and the distinguished researcher of the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development of Henan University, and Yansui Liu, a researcher at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of CAS and an academician of The World Academy of Sciences. They made speeches under the theme of “Sustainable Development of the Yellow River Civilization and Chinese-style Modernization”, “Influence of Xia and Shang Civilizations on Traditional Chinese Society”, and “Theoretical Cognition and Practical Exploration of Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature”.

After the speeches and reports, experts and scholars put forward their opinions on the Forum. They believed that the Forum would have a positive impact on the in-depth implementation of the major national strategies of the Yellow River, by providing opportunities for experts and scholars to learn the latest research results and the current situation on both ecological protection and the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
