Recently, Henan Provincial Government issued the Decisions of the Henan Provincial People's Government on the 2021 Henan Provincial Science and Technology Awards, announcing that Henan University was awarded 11 Henan Provincial Science and Technology Awards in 2021, which were 1 outstanding contribution award, 4 Second awards and 6 third awards. The number of awards earned by Henan University has reached another record high.

Academician Jiayao Wang, with 60 years of experience in the innovation research on cartography theory, digital cartography, geographic information system, and surveying and mapping information grid, was granted the Outstanding Contribution Award for his significant contributions to the modernization of national defense and development of science and technology in Henan. Four research groups respectively led by Feng Bai, Yang Lu, Heli Lu and Junying Liu won  the second prizes of Natural Science Awards and the second prizes of Science and Technology Progress Awards for their breakthroughs in basic theory and application in the fields of self-assembly nanomaterials, network information security, green and low-carbon development, and poverty alleviation. In addition, there were 6 research projects receiving the third prizes.
