December 19-20, the 2020 New Think Tank Governance & Ideological and Theoretical Communication Forum, co-sponsored by Guangming Daily and Nanjing University, was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. More than 700 experts and scholars from think tanks administration and China Think Tank Index (CTTI) members all over the county attended this forum. With the theme of “Promoting Think Tanks for Greater Achievements in the 14th Five-Year Plan Period”, this forum released the CTTI Report, the CTTI Source Think Tank Supplementary List, and the 2020 Outstanding Achievements.
The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development and the Collaborative Innovation Center on Yellow River Civilization Co-constructed by the Government of Henan Province and the Ministry of Education, and the Center for Israel Studies, were selected for the supplementary list, making HENU the only university selected in Henan Province.
At present, three HENU research institutions have been selected as CTTI source think tanks.
Founded in 2002, the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development integrates geography, economics, history, archeology, Chinese literature and other outstanding disciplines, and has long been committed to “The Yellow River Civilization’s Great Rejuvenation” and “Sustainable Development in the Yellow River Region”. In 2004, this Institute was approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to become a key scientific research base for humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities across the country. Based on the research institute, the Government of Henan Province regarded it in 2012 as the Henan Collaborative Innovation Center of Inheriting Yellow River Civilization and Promoting Modern Civilization. In 2018, this Center was upgraded to the Collaborative Innovation Center on Yellow River Civilization Co-constructed by the Government of Henan Province and the Ministry of Education of PRC. And in 2020, the center signed a contract with Henan Daily Press Group to jointly build “Think Tank of Yellow River Culture”. At present, to provide data support for the discipline system of the Yellow River Studies, the Center is building a comprehensive database of the Yellow River Studies and undertaking project to establish the Middle and Lower Yellow River Data Sub-center, which is affiliated to the National Earth System Science Data Center.
Established in 2002, the Center for Israel Studies focuses on the study of Israel and relevant Middle Eastern issues. In 2010, it was selected as a major research center by Henan University. In 2014, the Center was listed as a key research base for Humanities and Social Sciences of Henan Province. Under the promotion of the Ministry of Education, the “Chinese National Institute for Jewish Studies” was established in 2015. As a founding member unit of this national institute, the center was appointed as the vice president. In 2017, the Center was included in the record list of Ministry of Education of PRC for national and regional studies. Relying on this Center, in April 2018, Henan University was chosen as a council member of the “Belt and Road” Think Tank Association, which was established by the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China. By integrating disciplines, HENU established the Institute of Area Studies in 2019, with the Israel Research Center as a major member. Since 2015, the Center has been compiling and publishing an anual research report–“Blue Book of Israel: Annual Report on Israel’s National Development”, which is the only annual report on Israel in China.
