On the afternoon of November 13th, a delegation from the Leiria Regional Government of Portugal, led by President Gonçalo Lopes, visited Henan University (HENU). Yang Mengya, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of HENU, welcomed the guests at the Zhengzhou campus.

Yang Mengya expressed a warm welcome to the delegation, noting that during his visit to Portugal in September, a friendly cooperation agreement was signed with Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and a collaboration intention was reached with the University of Lisbon. He emphasized that this marks the beginning of HENU’s collaboration with Portuguese institutions. He expressed hope that this exchange would further deepen and solidify cooperation, inject new vitality into HENU’s internationalization process and lay a foundation for educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Portugal.

Gonçalo Lopes expressed gratitude to HENU, and highlighted that the Leiria region boasts rich educational resources and a diverse cultural background. He looks forward to in-depth collaboration with HENU in education, research and culture, thereby contributing positively to the friendly relations and cultural exchange between China and Portugal.

The delegation toured the campus, followed by a discussion where both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on how to strengthen cooperation further.

This visit not only deepened the friendship between HENU and the Leiria region of Portugal but also laid the foundation for future collaboration, contributing to the friendship between the peoples of China and Portugal.
