Henan-Macquarie University joint center for Biomedical Innovation utilizes the superior resources aiming to build the first-class mult-cross-disciplines platform of innovation. JCBI tries to make people own better health conditions and life insurances by taking advantage of advanced bio-medicine and nano-technology depending on which we can create novel solutions for the diagnose of cancer and nerve degeneration problem.
JCBI own two resources and research programs shared and unified managed branched center (Henan University center and Macquarie University center). The inclination of Henan University is building a lab as the branched center based on accurate early-detection of diseases and the theme of treatment. (The funding, labs and research fellows should be provided by Henan University). Macquarie University will use the current superior programs combining the labs of Prof. Roger Chung, Prof. Helen Rizos and Prof. Shi Bingyang to build the branched center aiming to detect the early-stage biomarker of cancer and bio-degeneration diseases (Macquarie University will provide research themes, PhD scholarship and intelligent support for cultivation of post-graduates).
Two branched centers will be operated in a unique integrative mode and strategy cooperate in a long-term on the research programs, joint scientific programs applications, undergraduates/master students/Phd cultivations. The purpose of all is to keep the leading position of JCBI on cancer and bio-degeneration diseases in the world.
1. Tenure track positions and entitlements
1.1 Professor (Level E)
Qualifications:
(1)The applicant is required to be a young scholar with excellent moral quality, integrity, and a rigorous and matter-of-the-fact attitude in research work. She/He is required to have good academic influence in her/his own specialty with working or study experience in well-known Uni/Institutes, or great academic potentials.
(2)The applicant is required to be currently working on teaching or scientific research and be physically and mentally capable for the role. The age limit is 35-year-old for awardees, which can be waived under special circumstances.
(3)The applicant should also meet the following selection criteria:
With postdoctoral training experience for at least 3 years at prestigious universities or R&D institutes with excellent research achievements;
Systematic research experiences with excellent track records in one of following research fields: new materials, Blood Brain Barrier, dementia/motor neuron disease diagnostics and therapy or disease model.
Entitlements:
Each awardee will receive an annual salary of 0.4 million Yuan (RMB) and a one-off, settling-in allowance of 0.3 million Yuan (RMB). As for research fund, each professor will be offered RMB 1.5-2 million RMB. In addition, an apartment of about 140 square meters will be provided as per accommodation arrangement (ownership of the apartment will be awarded after 5 years’ initial employment term). Her/His spouse will be offered job opportunity, and dependent children will have guaranteed admission to schools or kindergartens. The awardee will also be supported for a research team with capacity of 1-2 members with senior titles or doctorates.
1.2 Assistant/associate professor (Level C/D)
Qualifications:
(1)The applicant is required to be a young scholar with excellent matter-of-the-fact attitude in research work and great academic potentials.
(2)The applicant is required to be currently working on teaching or scientific research and be physically and mentally capable for the role. The age limit is 35-year-old for awardees, which can be waived under special circumstances.
(3)Systematic research experiences with excellent track records in one of following research fields: new materials, bio-conjugations, bio-nano interfaces, computer simulation, instrument, Blood Brain Barrier, dementia disease diagnostics, therapy or animal model.
Entitlements:
Each awardee will receive an annual salary of 100,000-300,000 Yuan (RMB) and a one-off, settling-in allowance of 150,000 Yuan (RMB). As for research fund, each awardee will be offered RMB 200,000 RMB. In addition, each awardee is able to purchase an apartment about 140 square meters at very special price.

2. Joint positions with ARC Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) at Macquarie University
2.1 Joint Postdoctoral positions with ARC CNBP at Macquarie University
Qualifications:
(1)The applicant is required to be a young scholar with excellent matter-of-the-fact attitude in research work and good academic potentials.
(2)The applicant is required to be currently working on scientific research and be physically and mentally capable for the role. The age limit is 33-year-old for awardees, which can be waived under special circumstances.
(3)Systematic research experiences with excellent track records in one of following research fields: new materials, bio-conjugations, bio-nano interfaces, analytical instruments, optoelectronic engineering, nanophotonics, Alzheimer’s disease model and therapy.
Entitlements:
Each awardee will receive an annual salary of 150,000-250,000 Yuan (RMB). The excellent awardee will be offered assistant/associate professor (Level C/D) after the fix-term contract finish.
2.2 Joint Full PhD Scholarship with ARC CNBP at Macquarie University
PhD scholarships are available for a 3-year research programs in bio-nano interfaces (experiments and/or computer simulation), nanophotonics, optical instrumentation, disease diagnostics and therapy. It will offer annual scholarship (~ $ AUD 26,600 plus top-up) with waived tuition fee.
Qualifications:
(1) Have completed Master Degree with major research component.(2) Outstanding academic performance with Bachelor and Master records/transcripts to be at Distinction level or higher.(3) Quality peer-reviewed research output, such as publications and/or conference presentations, and ideally with a history of competitive scholarships, prizes & awards.
(4) If an applicant is not from English Speaking countries, proof of English Proficiency is required, through either an IELTS or a TOEFL test.
• IELTS (academic version): Overall 6.5 with minimum of 6.0 in each band; OR
• iBT (internet based TOEFL): Overall score of 92 with 23 in Speaking, 18 in Listening, 17 in Reading and 22 in Writing; OR
• TOEFL (computer based): Overall of 237 with minimum 19 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 25 in Structure/Writing and TWE of 5.0; OR
• TOEFL (paper based): Overall of 580 with 53 in Listening, 52 in Reading, 59 in Structure/Written Expression and TWE of 5.0.

provisions
(1)The successful applicants will work in Macquarie University and Henan University depending on the project needs.
(2)A selected talent will be paid in accordance with annual salary system. S/He whose achievements exceed expectations shall be paid for bonus by the University.
(3)The successful level E talent is required to sign an agreement for 5 years as an initial employment term. The successful level C/D talents are tenure track.
(4)Any unsettled matters shall be discussed on a case-by-case basis with JCBI.
3. Joint Postdoctoral positions between Henan University and Columbia University in the New York City
The laboratories of Professor Bingyang Shi (Henan U) and Professor Kam W Leong (Columbia U) are jointly recruiting postdoctoral fellows to work at the interface of drug/gene therapy and regenerative medicine. Candidates with an outstanding academic record and training in the areas of biomaterials, nanomedicine, bio-nano interfaces, analytical instruments, Alzheimer’s disease model and therapy, or regenerative medicine are encouraged to apply. Candidates under the age of 33 years old will receive priority and they are expected to spend a significant amount of time at Columbia University.
The annual postdoctoral stipend will be in the range of 20,000-250,000 Yuan (RMB). Awardees who have performed well will be offered an assistant/associate professorship (Level C/D) in Henan University at the end of the fix-term contract.

4. Renewal or denial
(I)For mid-term outstanding and satisfactory appointee, the signed Agreement will continue. The Agreement terminates automatically for whom did not pass the review process. The dismissed may apply for other posts or conduct resignation procedures within 3 months after dismissal (meanwhile, her/his spouse who has received a job offer shall resign).
(II)The contract-end outstanding appointee shall receive a one-off bonus (total 5 per cent of annual salary) and agreement renewal for a second term or tenure position. The contract-end unsatisfactory appointee shall be dismissed and may apply for other posts or conduct resignation procedures within 3 months.
5. Supplementary provisions
Human Resource shall be responsible for the interpretation of the Administrative Measures which shall enter into force as of the date of promulgation.
