September 25, 2021 marks the 109th anniversary of Henan University, on which the opening ceremony of Zhengzhou Campus of Henan University was also held. The main venue of the ceremony was set in Zhengzhou Campus, while branch venues in Jinming Campus and Minglun Campus were set up.
In the main venue of the opening ceremony, the delegates were Jichao XU, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People's Congress, Hong HOU, mayor of Zhengzhou, Zhenghui SONG, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Education Department of Henan Province, Wei GUO, first-grade inspector of Development and Reform Commission of Henan Province, Ming LI, Deputy Director-General of Henan Provincial Finance Department, Yongqing XUE, Secretary-General of Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, Kai ZHAO, Executive Deputy Director of Zhengdong New District Management Committee, former leaders of Henan University including Wenjin WANG, Peixin SUN, Bingyi ZHANG, Aihe GUAN, and Yuangong LOU, Prof. Liqun WANG, famous cultural scholar and doctoral supervisor of the School of Chinese Language and Literature of HENU, alumni representative Bin DAN, chairman of OHIM, Junwei WEI, chairman of Kaifeng Jinsheng Thermal Power Co., Ltd., all school leaders, heads of relevant departments, representatives of teachers and students. More than 2,000 representatives of teachers and students watched the ceremony at the sub-venues, and all teachers and students watched and shared the important moment online. The ceremony was presided over by Keping LU, secretary of the Party Committee of the university.
President Chun-Peng SONG extended a warm welcome to the guests attending the ceremony, expressed his heartfelt thanks to people from all walks of life supporting the development of Henan University and the campus construction, and extended hearty congratulations to the first group of teachers and students. Then he introduced the construction planning, architectural design, opportunities and challenges, and future development planning of Zhengzhou Campus. Song said that Henan University would adhere to the principle of fostering virtue through education, continuously promote the construction of a world-class comprehensive research-oriented university with "Chinese characteristics and Central Plains style".
Bin DAN, the alumni representative, expressed his joy and excitement to witness the opening of Zhengzhou Campus. He also wished his alma mater Henan University greater success and hoped that future generations of students of Henan University would forge ahead and live up to their youth.
Mingzhai GENG, representative of the departmentsin Zhengzhou Campus, expressed his thoughts on the future development of Zhengzhou Campus. He said that HENU should firmly grasp the strategic opportunity of "double first-class" initiative tofocus on disciplines and majors that are highly compatible with Zhengzhou's industrial development direction, and build a more open think tank to gather talents from all over the world.
At the ceremony, the 110th Anniversary Logo and mascot were officially released. Former HENU presidents Wenjin WANG, Aihe GUAN, and Yuangong LOU, as well as current president Chun-Peng SONG jointly unveiled the countdown marker to the school's anniversary.
Jichao XU announced the official opening of Zhengzhou Campus, together with Hong HOU, Zhenghui SONG, Wei GUO, Ming LI, Liqun WANG, Junwei WEI, Keping LU, and Chun-Peng SONG.
It is reported that Zhengzhou Campus is located in the northeast of Longzihu College Park in Zhengdong New District. This fall semester, there are more than 2,600 undergraduates, master and doctoral students enrolled in the campus, involving International Education College, School of Artificial Intelligence, Henan Industrial Technology Academy of Spatio-Temporal Big Data and Research Center for New Urbanization and Development of Central Plains Economic Zone.
