报告摘要:We give an introduction to random matrix theory and will explain how specific random matrix ensembles appear in different Chern-Simons theories, comprising both pure Chern-Simons theory and Chern-Simons theory with supersymmetric matter, including quiver theories. We explain existing links between random matrix theory and the theory of symmetric functions, focusing on Schur polynomials, and how the combination of both is useful in solving analytically the Chern-Simons-matter matrix models.
Miguel Tierz is an assistant professor of mathematics at the Mathematics Department of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, since 2019 and was a researcher from 2015-2019 in the same department. Miguel obtained his PhD in theoretical physics in 2008 at the University of Barcelona, Spain and went on to be a postdoc researcher at Brandeis University, Massachusetts, USA from 2008-2010, at the Einstein Institute of Mathematics, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2010-2011, Israel with a Lady Davis fellowship, at the University of Lisbon, Portugal from 2011-2012, and at the Mathematics Faculty of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, from 2012-2015, before moving to the University of Lisbon where he works now. Miguel is an expert on Chern-Simons and Chern-Simons-matter theories as well as matrix models, including random matrix theory.
